2009 Youth Basketball League

  Ø    Their will be 5 or 6 divisions based on grade level.

1^st – 2^nd – Girls

1^st – 2^nd – Boys

3^rd – 4^th Girls 

3^rd – 4^th Boys 

5^th – 6^th Girls 

5^th – 6^th Boys 

Rules:

Ø     Baskets will be set at 8'6" for the 1^st and 2^nd grade divisions.

Ø     Games will be played every Saturday from October 31^st through December 12^th primarily at Port Huron High and Port Huron Northern.

Ø     Team practices will be determined by each individual coach, typically once a week.

Ø     All registration forms must be turned in on or before October 9th.

Ø     Cost is $35 for all students.

Ø     We are looking for parent volunteers to coach and/or assist.  If you are interested, please e-mail Brian Jamison at bjamison@phasd.us or call 984-2671 ext 486

(note:  We will be doing background checks on all coaches that volunteer).

Ø     Players will be contacted and informed about practice times after the coaches meeting.  Once the game schedule is complete, it can be viewed on phnbasketball.com 

Ø      The following basketball sizes with be used in games:

1^st – 2^nd – 27.5”

3^rd – 4^th Girls – 27.5”

3^rd – 4^th Boys – 28.5”

5^th – 6^th Girls – 28.5”

5^th – 6^th Boys – 29.5”

      28.5” is a regulation girls’ ball and a 29.5” is a regulation boys’ ball.

  Ø      PHASD will be providing game balls, but practice balls are not supplied.  It is recommended that any player that owns a ball should bring it to practice unless the coach states otherwise.  

Ø      1^st and 2^nd grade boys and girls will be playing at a rim height of 8’6”. 

Ø      The school district will be responsible for the management of all Saturday games.  On the other hand, all practices will be regulated by the volunteer coach.  Port Huron Area Schools is not responsible for their supervision.
